Luring the others to the hospital with a video of a half-dead Matthew, Benjamin comes face-to-face with Diana. Satu recommends that Benjamin kill Matthew before Diana can come for him, but Benjamin reiterates their agreement that he will deal with Matthew and Satu with Diana. Matthew later confronts Benjamin in the hospital and nearly kills him, but he is saved by Satu Järvinen who arrives and incapacitates Matthew just before he can inflict the final blow. Eventually, he allows the witch to escape in the hopes that she would run to Matthew and Diana and detail his behavior - his plan works and Lena does this immediately. He begins to call the witch "My Diana" in the hopes that this would get inside of Matthew's head. It is eventually revealed by Hubbard that Benjamin had been manipulating Jack for years after his siring to kill and maim people for fun.īenjamin's taunts come to a head when he kidnaps a witch, Lena, and holds her captive in the hospital in which Philippe de Clermont was murdered. Initially, he begins sending videos to Marcus and Matthew that show Jack killing people for fun in the hopes that it would discredit Jack and cause tensions with Matthew. Present day, Benjamin returns to wreck havoc on the lives of those living at Sept-Tours. Benjamin shortly reveals that he is the sire of Andrew Hubbard. He reveals that he was cast out by his own clan (which is later revealed to be the de Clairmonts ) and prefers the company of other creatures. He recognizes her as a de Clairmont - and the wife of Matthew - and introduces himself. TV Series Brief encounter with Diana ĭiana briefly encounters Benjamin in Bohemia in 1591 while waiting for an audience with Emperor Rudolf II. Benjamin did not kill them directly- he used Jack Blackfriars, who was unable to control himself due to blood rage. He evades all attempts by Matthew and other members of the de Clermont family to locate him in Prague once Diana reveals his presence. Rabbi Loew introduces Benjamin as a visitor from Poland.īenjamin tells Diana that the insignia he wears, of the Order of the Defeated Dragon, symbolizes his intent to slay dragons wherever they are found. Diana does not realize who he is, since he is using his alias Herr Fuchs. He encounters Diana at the home of Abraham ben Elijah. The de Clermont family subsequently lost track of Benjamin and believed him to be dead.īenjamin is in Prague at the same time as Matthew and Diana Bishop. When Baldwin de Clermont killed Vlad the Impaler (the humans' Dracula), he ordered Benjamin to leave Hungary or face the same fate. He later allied himself with the Drăculeşti and the Order of the Defeated Dragon, opponents of the de Clermonts, led by Vlad the Dragon. He was removed from the de Clermont genealogy. He was then cast out to fend for himself, disavowed by both Matthew and Phillipe de Clermont. As punishment, and to prevent him from acting on his threat, Matthew Clairmont turned him into a vampire. He threatened to expose the existence of creatures to the humans of Jerusalem. Because of his family connections and knowledge of Hebrew and Arabic, he was initially viewed by the de Clermonts as a valuable ally.īenjamin was discovered to be trading in de Clermont family secrets. His mother was a daughter of a prominent Levant merchant.
